Please don’t go by the name ‘Litti Chokha’ as this is not just a food blog or like a chef’s website, instead, it’s a lifestyle digital locale/open-air venue.
Litti Chokha is an ethnic food of eastern India, commonly called Purvanchal. The Japanese may be the most talked about people for their minimalist lifestyle and food habits, but Litti Chokha of Purvanchal could easily qualify as the most minimalist food in the world just behind Sattu, which is not just an Indian complete food but also the quintessential ingredient of Litti Chokha.
For those uninitiated to the world of sattu, it is the pulverised or powdery form of roasted gram flour. It can be used in innumerable ways. Every pocket of Purvanchal may throw one fresh recipe of sattu. It is a preferably veg-food.
It is a mystery why sattu has not colonised the world of food given its antiquity. The 10th Mandal of the Rigveda talks about sattu. It talks about “Karambh” that was prepared with sattu, dahi and ghee. It was considered as the food having medicinal, prophylactic and nutritional qualities some 3,500 years ago. Milk could be a complete food for many people, but to a knowledgeable villager in Purvanchal, sattu is a complete food.
Here at http://littichokhalive.com, we believe that food is the sole regulator of lifestyle, almost all human behaviours and reciprocal to the habits and habitats at the same time.
Here, we’ll try to talk and think about many things related to the food, the taste and the power of food.
